Can I be fired for an injury at work?

I work at a paintball field and yesterday was injured breaking my collarbone and the separation of my shoulder. As the owner is paying my bills from the hospital the same place as the workers' compensation or insurance. So if I get fired I can fight it? or I'm screwed. I have 16 years and this is my first job. I live in Texas, if that matters
